Fortnite is known for its collaborations with mainstream franchises, including video games and TV Shows alike. The popular battle royale recently had a crossover with a popular TV Show called The Invincibles. A Fortnite x Dr Who collaboration has also been in the works for a while. With rumours floating for a few months now, fans wonder when they will see their favourite Dr Who characters in Fortnite.
In August 2023, it was reported that the Fortntie x Dr Who collaboration was postponed indefinitely. The release of the crossover was initially planned for November 2023. This would line up with the show’s sixtieth anniversary, with the first episode being released on November 23rd, 1963.
It is rumoured that the developers were unable to deliver on time. This is because Epic Games had their hands full with the Big Bang event and the Lego x Fortnite collaboration during this period. This does not mean that the Fortnite x Dr Who collaboration is dead. It is still set to release with some changes to the crossover’s content.
Fortnite x Dr Who collaboration set to release this year with major changes
When the Fortnite x Dr Who collaboration was postponed in August 2023, Epic Games set a new target for the crossover to be released in the first quarter of 2024. As of now, this continues to be the rumoured period of launch. However, with the collaboration no longer coinciding with the show’s anniversary, the developers are making some significant changes to the update.
Epic Games has been cutting down on a lot of content that they deem unnecessary. They decided to reduce the scope of the crossover after plans to launch it at the anniversary were cancelled. The original Fortnite x Dr Who collaboration was supposed to feature much more than cosmetic items. This included in-game features such as mechanics and items from the show.
Recently a member of the community, @VinderTomat, reached out to BBC in regards to the Fortnite x Doctor Who collaboration VIA the UK law called "Freedom of Information Act".

The famous TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space) from the show was also going to be featured in the game. Whether this was merely a cosmetic piece or something that would allow players to travel across the map is still unclear. Fans are still hopeful to see this exciting collaboration in the game soon.
