How to Get True Ending

Starting the True Ending Route

To start the true ending, you first have to clear the game with the good ending.

Then, in the main menu, select Continue → Chapter selection, and select the save that has the good ending cleared.

The save doesn’t seem to have to be a save of “Chapter 7 The End” save, just any save that you’ve previously had “Chapter 7 The End” saved on and used Chapter selection on, so you should still be fine even if you saved over it.

Select the save and then load Chapter 6. When prompted to change your allies’ fates, make sure all your allies are alive, if they aren’t already.

Note: You may need to clear the game with all your allies surviving first though, haven’t tried otherwise myself.

Key Point 2:

Chapter 7

Additionally, you should get a new prompt and event after exiting the clock tower for the second time during this chapter. If you choose to enter the clock tower, you’ll trigger the true ending.

Bonus Good Ending Content

Good Ending Content

If you only follow Key Point #1 under the Chapter 6 portion of this guide and ignore the rest of the contents of this guide, you can unlock an additional scene in the good ending instead. You can’t see the new good ending contents in the true ending, so you may want to make multiple saves before entering the clock tower for a second time in Chapter 7 if you want to see both.

Troubleshooting Guide

Steam Deck Correct Res / Aspect Ratio on HDMI / DP

Anyone who wants to play the game on the Steam Deck using a bigger screen has to put this:

SteamDeck=0 %command%

You need to do it without the quotes inside the launch settings of the game on the Steam Deck, otherwise you get horrible 16:9 with black borders up to 16:10 then pillarboxed with glitchy left and right side to 16:9, and top and bottom sides black, except for some gameplay parts where it renders correctly.

Basically if you play the game on Steam Deck, the game is automatically assuming a 16:10 screen no matter the resolution you pick (also if you want bigger resolutions of course you need to put Native inside the Game Resolution in the Steam Deck game properties).

How to Play with Xbox Controller

You need to regenerate the configuration file and then you can use it.

Delete:

~/steamapps/common/Spirit Hunter Death Mark II/config.xml.

Launch the game, and a new “config.xml” will be generated and you should be able to use the controller.

If you compare the backup you made before the deletion, “input>name” was either “Keyboard” or “XInputControllerWindows”, so if the aforementioned doesn’t work, you can use the controller by rewriting it to “XInputControllerWindows”.
