On Saturday, the Cleveland Browns-led by the veteran quarterback Joe Flacco went against the C.J. Stroud-led Houston Texans in their wildcard matchup. The Browns’ injured quarterback Deshaun Watson — who is currently recovering from surgery — pulled up to the game to support his teammates.
Watson watched the game from the sidelines and it wasn’t a pretty sight for him. The Browns got decimated in the hands of Stroud, who threw multiple touchdowns in his first playoff games. As a result, the Texans were able to secure a dominating victory against the Browns on Saturday.
Following the Browns’ brutal loss, an image of Deshaun Watson giving a death stare to C.J. Stroud went viral on social media and caught the attention of many fans. Fans on social media interpreted the stare as Watson looking at the rookie quarterback with jealousy.
“That’s because CJ took his place and is already light years ahead of him,” wrote an X user below the picture of Watson’s apparent death stare. “Because Stroud is already better than Watson will ever be,” wrote another user. Fans also mocked Watson using the s*xual allegations against the Browns quarterback.
Fans didn’t care if it was a death stare or simply a picture taken out of context and went after the 28-year-old signal-caller. On the sporting side of things, Stroud had a massive game on Saturday as he completed 16 of his 21 pass attempts for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns.
As a result of Stroud’s remarkable performance, the Texans secured a dominating 45-14 victory against the Cleveland-based football team and moved to the divisional round. On the flip side, Joe Flacco’s fairy-tale run in Cleveland came to an end on Saturday and the Browns were eliminated from the postseason.
Browns HC Kevin Stefanski gives an update on Deshaun Watson’s injury
Following the embarrassing loss against the Texans on Saturday, the Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski addressed the media and was asked about his quarterback Deshaun Watson’s potential return to the field.
I’m confident he’ll be ready to roll this spring. He’s champing at the bit, but he’s doing everything he’s supposed to do when it comes to what the doctors are telling him as he rehabs through this, but he’ll be ready to roll.Kevin Stefanski told the reporters
Stefanski still has high hopes for Watson, who has just played 12 games in his first two seasons in Cleveland. The Browns head coach also said that Watson was playing at a high level before he was forced to undergo a season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder.
