Boise pastor, Matt Priebe will never forget the day he received the news that his brother would be getting a new kidney.

After months of trying to find an organ donor for Mark Priebe, 22-year-old fallen officer Blaize Madrid-Evans answered Matt his family's prayers.

"We were shocked, and we weren't expecting it, and like I said, we were in the process of testing thinking we would go back and maybe I would be able to donate for him, and when we found this out, we were like wow this is just amazing and excited for Mark to start this new chapter of his life," Matt said.

Madrid-Evans was a fellow police officer in Independence, MO., but he died in the line of duty on Sept. 15.

"Heartbreaking, to say the least, just because even though I don't know him, he's still a brother in blue, and he's a brand-new officer started out. I started out when I was 21 over 20 years ago, and he's just getting started," Mark said.

Last year, Mark had a near-death experience after getting shot at and ran over in front of the Springfield Police Headquarters, leaving Mark paralyzed from the waist down.

"I couldn't get out of the way quick enough. He turned his vehicle towards me and gunned me and gunned it, and I ended up getting run over in front of the headquarters there," Mark said.

Matt said it's been a difficult year for Mark and his family but with a new kidney, Mark can finally focus on what life looks like ahead.

"Thank you. Thank you for the forethought and the foresight and the character of heart to love my family when you didn't even know who we were, and to not just love in a simple way, but in a dynamic way, that is going to allow my brother to really experience life to his fullest now," Matt said.
