Las Vegas Raiders head coach’s wife Jocelyn has officially filed for bankruptcy following a major default on loans. 

Sports Law reporter Jason Morrin reported the news that Antonio Pierce had invested in some car dealerships which went wrong and they “defaulted on their loans,” compelling them to file bankruptcy, earlier this month in Phoenix, Arizona. 

He [Antonio Pierce] was named as a guarantor of judgments = over $28M. Lenders now seek to satisfy judgments from marital assets.

Jocelyn claimed that she did not sign any personal guaranty related to the loans, which is a document committing to repay the debts if the primary borrower defaults following her bankruptcy filing. 

Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation (holding a $23M judgment) and Hyundai Capital America ($4.5M judgment), recently attempted to garnish Mr. Pierce’s wages. 

Jason Morrin added

Mrs. Pierce filed for bankruptcy on 6/12/24 but claims she did not sign any personal guaranty on the loans.

When Pierce had made the investments in the car dealership, he had signed certain documents as a guarantor. Given that the lenders have acquired the judgment in their favor over the businesses operated by Jocelyn, the couple is responsible for handling the situation.

Antonio’s wife has requested the court an extension to be able to submit all required documents in her case.

Antonio Pierce looks to guide Raiders back to contention in 2024

Amidst the financial crisis, Antonio is heading to his first season as the head coach of the Raiders, after he took over the position following Josh McDaniels’ departure. He was initially appointed as interim head coach, but seeing the 5-4 record and his bonding with the players, the franchise officially gave him the head coach’s position. 

Under his reign, the Raiders did improve last season and are hoping for a comeback season in 2024 with star players such as Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby. 

Antonio has also made some crucial composition changes since taking over and drafted potential players in the 2024 draft. Although the quarterback position remains uncertain, the team is prepared for a recovery season and to regain their ‘Contender’ status.
